Biographical or Historical Note
Building at 6898 McKinley constructed in 1918. It housed the Speas Distillery, which made apple brandy and vinegar for many years. At the time of the photograph, it was owned and operated by the Western Apple Vinegar Co., but was subsequently demolished after the vinegar company went out of business. A City of Sebastopol parking lot and a new street, Laguna Park Way, was built in its place to connect to the small neighborhood on Johnson and Flynn streets and to Morris Street; the bonded warehouse was converted into a Sebastopol Cinema movie theater in the early 1990s.
